On June 3, 2024, the Oyster River High School (ORHS) hosted the 14th edition of its annual Science Showcase. A large crowd gathered in the ORHS library for the occasion.

Modeled after college level poster presentations where researchers are required to present and defend their findings, the Science Showcase is an opportunity for ORHS science students to share their inquiry-based research in an engaging way.

Students dedicated the entire month of May to their project. From the research itself, to data collection, lab report writing, and poster creation.

During the showcase event students presented their results to peers, friends, family, staff, and community members.

Human Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science, and AP Biology students presented over 20 research projects this year. Anatomy and Environmental students are dual enrollment college classes and will receive college credit for the courses.

“During this project, students gain skills in research, design, analysis, writing and presentation that, especially for those continuing down a path to a science related degree, will prove to be invaluable”, said Science Teacher Celeste Best.

The Science Showcase is presented annually in June.
