Reaching New Heights. There's a Bobcat in Space!

Updated 09/19/2024: On September 15, 2024, Scott Poteet and the Polaris Dawn crew safely returned to Earth after five days in orbit.

Bobcat Scott Poteet, an Oyster River High School class of 1992 alum, launched into space from Cape Canaveral on September 10, 2024, as SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission pilot. Polaris Dawn is expected to be the first of a series of three missions into space.

We take great pride in knowing that Oyster River High School played a small part in nurturing Scott’s extraordinary journey. His success reminds us that with determination, vision, and ambition our wildest dreams can take flight.

Scott was also featured in Netflix’s Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space, a docuseries about the first all-civilian orbital space mission.
