Social Studies
The main goals of the Social Studies curriculum include preparing students for their civic responsibilities, learning to make good decisions, analyzing past and current events, and learning to appreciate the variety of people in the world. Students are urged to take electives beyond the required courses, and are encouraged to talk to teachers in the department or to their school counselor, if they have questions about a course or would like help in selecting a sequence of Social Studies courses. Courses are listed in the order in which most students will choose to take them. It is essential that course descriptions be read carefully to understand the level of difficulty, course requirements (reading, writing, and research), as well as content.
