World Language

French, Spanish and Mandarin are offered to students in the seventh and eighth grades at ORMS. If successfully completed, two years of Middle School foreign language study is equivalent to one year at the high school level. The World Language Department recommends a minimum of two years of any language at the high school level in addition to the first year completed at the Middle School for students who are planning to attend a four year college. Students are encouraged to complete a four-year sequence in order to achieve maximum fluency, comprehension, and appreciation of the language as well as the culture.
