DURHAM – Superintendent Dr. Robert Shaps and Principal Rebecca Noe are pleased to share that Kristen Perron was named the 2025 New Hampshire Assistant Principal of the Year by the New Hampshire Association of School Principals.
Each year, the award recognizes an outstanding middle or high school assistant principal that has succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities to students and demonstrating exemplary contributions to the profession.
Prior to being named Assistant Principal of the year, Perron participated in an extensive selection process that included an application, student, staff, administrator and parent references, in-person panels conducted by members of the selection committee, interviews and an office visit.
During the final interview, Perron highlighted her impact on the community by showcasing various artifacts including the pink vest she wears while directing traffic and a number of signs made for her by Oyster River High School (ORHS) students.
A few days after the interview, the committee selected Perron as Assistant Principal of the Year.
"I felt so honored to have been nominated for such a recognition. The support that I received from everyone throughout the process was overwhelming in the best way possible," said Perron. "Throughout my time with the Oyster River Cooperative School District, I have always felt supported and embraced as a school leader. I am so appreciative of that. It is because of this trust, respect, and confidence that I continue to grow."
Perron has worked in education for nearly 15 years. Her career began at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, where she worked as an English teacher for about 12 years before entering a career in administration. Before joining ORHS as Assistant Principal, Perron spent two years as the dean of Salem High School in Salem.
"Mrs. Perron has been a reliable and positive support system for our students, always looking for ways to immerse herself in student activities and make sure their needs are heard and addressed," said Principal Noe. "She is an excellent example of what an administrator should be, and I am beyond proud for her to receive this well-deserved recognition."
As the New Hampshire Assistant Principal of the Year, Perron will now be submitted for consideration for National Assistant Principal of the Year.
"We are proud of Mrs. Perron and grateful for her dedication to the Oyster River community," said Superintendent Shaps. "Her unwavering and impactful commitment promotes an engaging learning environment that benefits both our students and staff. Her innovative, supportive, and positive influence exemplifies true leadership."
